WE APPLY STRICT PROOFREADING TO ALL TRANSLATIONS
We are convinced that translating the text is not enough. Prior to forwarding the text to the client, it needs to be proofread and edited. Every single one of our translations is reviewed with the utmost attention. We make sure that the translation is consistent, the terms are being used correctly, numbers and addresses are being accurately converted by using the requirements of the location and the format corresponds with the original. We offer separate editing services as well which we recommend especially for texts whose core purpose is to be published, such as websites and press releases. There can never be too many attentive pairs of eyes reviewing them!
EDITING DONE BY A NATIVE PROFESSIONAL
Translations and other texts are reviewed by a professional who is a native speaker of the language in question. Their main goal is to ensure that the text is well rounded and sounds natural. The editor checks the grammar and punctuation of the text and then adjusts its style according to the topic and the audience it is dedicated to. The terms are reviewed as well – they have to comply with the rules of the language of translation, while not straying too far from the original meaning. The editor does not usually alter the text to fit the cultural realities of the area; however, this option is available per the client’s request.
COMPARISON BETWEEN THE ORIGINAL AND THE TRANSLATION
The original and the translation are compared by a different translator. We select our professionals for this task according to their areas of expertise. What are the benefits of doing the comparison? It allows us to raise the level of correspondence between the meanings of the translation and the original and to improve the fluidity and terminology of the text.
REVIEWING THE TEXT WITH A PRE-EXISTING LAYOUT (PROOFREADING)
This step is completed when the text already has a layout and is ready for printing. When proofreading, the organisation of the images and text is taken into account, the formatting of the text is improved and it is made sure that nothing is missing. The purpose of this service is to ensure that there are no mistakes or flaws remaining after applying the layout. This is done by selecting the text and commenting on it. At this stage, there are no corrections made on the grammar and the style of the text, the contents are not compared to the original, and so this service cannot be used as a substitution for editing.
